In class today we watched a movie called “Spare Parts”. “Spare Parts” is a 2015 American drama film, directed by Sean McNamara. It is a smart and creative movie, based on a true story. The film is about a team, of four intelligent and ambitious high school students from Carl Hayden High School, who enter a prestigious robotics competition. The four students are all immigrants from Mexico, so the film is not only about building robots, but also about how it is to live in USA as an immigrant. The four boys have a dedicated science teacher who mentors, pushes and inspires them.
They end up winning first place over the team M.I.T. in the competition, even though the team only had 800$ to spend on the things they needed for the robot, and had to use car parts, they still won the competition over several highly funded university teams.
The film, as i mentioned earlier, raise the issue of kids that are illegally smuggled to the U.S. by their parents and who grow up as Americans. I think that it`s important to raise this issue, since the topic is relevant nowadays.

It is a spirited and excellent film. You should watch it!
