“The hate u give” my first impression

The novel “The hate u give” written by Angie Thomas. The Hate U Give opened at number one on The New York Times young adult best-seller list. It is Thomas’s debut novel.

Its about a young woman called  Starr Carter. She witnesses a white police officer shooting her unarmed best friend Khalil. Starr lives in between two worlds: the poor black neighborhood where she lives, and the fancy suburban school that she and her brother attends.

So far I really like the book. The story is very important and puts light on a topic that needs more attention. Here is a comment on the book that I agree with:

“As we continue to fight the battle against police brutality and systemic racism in America, THE HATE U GIVE serves as a much needed literary ramrod. Absolutely riveting!” — Jason Reynolds, bestselling coauthor of ALL AMERICAN BOYS

Here is a quote from the book i think is important: “Oh, we know the truth, thats not what we want,” says Daddy. “We want justice.”
